Below you'll find a brief history of the park and helpful tips to keep in mind when planning your Magic Kingdom vacation!
When the Magic Began...
The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida first opened back on October 1, 1971, and was later dedicated on October 25th. When the park originally opened there were only six themed lands: Main Street, USA; Adventureland; Liberty Square; Fantasyland; Tomorrowland and Frontierland. Mickey's Birthdayland was created in 1988 in honor of the famous mouse's 60th birthday, (today Mickey's Birthdayland is called Mickey's Toontown Fair). Occupying over 107 acres of the Florida landscape, the Magic Kingdom was one of the largest commercial theme park undertakings to ever be completed in citrus country. Imaginative buildings were designed with intricate architecture and design features, creating worlds unlike anything people had ever seen before! Background music was specially created for every land in the Magic Kingdom to help exaggerate the idea of a three dimensional movie, while a design trick known as "forced perspective" helped create fantastic illusions on many of the theme park buildings. Over 9000 workers contributed to the creation of Walt Disney World, which is located southwest of Orlando in Lake Buena Vista Florida. In fact, a short 22 mile Orlando car rental drive is all that separates you from the city of Orlando and the wonder that is the Magic Kingdom!
Tips for Making the Most of your Magic Kingdom Adventure!
The Magic Kingdom is a gigantic attraction that can often appear daunting to parents with young children. Don't worry though, by following these helpful hints from Orlando Group Travel Passenger Van Rental Orlando Car Rental you'll be able to have a stress-free afternoon exploring Walt Disney's famous theme park!
- Prepare for Parades! The Magic Kingdom is famous for its parades, performed on special occasions and, well, just about everyday! If you're planning on watching one of these magnificent shows be sure to grab a spot early along the parade route. Orlando Group Travel Passenger Van Rental Orlando Car Rentals suggests picking a spot about 30 minutes before the parade begins. If you wait much longer you'll be forced to stand behind rows of mouse-eared visitors, ruining any chance of getting a good view. So grab some ice cream and relax for a few minutes; the wait is well worth it in the end!
- Fast track with Fastpass Attractions! If you're looking forward to riding some of the major thrill rides at the Magic Kingdom including Space mountain and the Haunted Mansion, you may wish to take advantage of the Fastpass ticket solution. Simply pickup your Fastpass ticket in front of you're favorite ride - on the stub you'll find an assigned time slot that will allow you to jump to the head of the line, bypassing any major waits. Just be sure to make it back during your allotted time frame!
- Kids getting crabby - head indoors! The Magic Kingdom is proud to offer visitors a variety of indoor attractions that are often low-queue and air conditioned. Orlando Group Travel Passenger Van Rental Orlando Car Rental encourages you to check out the Hall of Presidents and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority!
